I know this. I need this.

When I’m angry or feeling frustrated, I listen to rap and hip hop songs. Earlier, I had a little argument with a friend which resulted to me making my own hip hop-themed poem. It was fun writing this one, it felt like I was one of those spoken word poets from Def Poetry Jams. I also felt better after I wrote this one.

Before I share my poem, I want to post this performance by Shihan for Def Poetry Jams. This is my favorite.

This Type Love

Here’s my poem.

I forgot the names of them girls I used to chill with
Don’t know why they thinking, saying this ain’t what i need
They, for sure still don’t see what my eyes see
They, clueless that this is how I fuckin’ wanna be

For them who think that I shouldn’t be with her
For your information I’m already dreaming of forever
I’m sure, so true to what I’m sayin’
I’m damn sure bout this life i could be livin’

That girl, forgive me please for breaking your heart
That sly, was a wrong move from the very start
But this lady, she makes my heart skip and maybe flip
It’s this lady, she’s the one I swear I’m gonna keep

I cant believe I’m one of them who got lucky
Coz I feel like I never was this happy
They better stop dissing what I’m truly feeling
They better check what is it they maybe missing

I don’t need clothes, shoes or hoes
Just her personality that always glows
It’s gon’ be her, we be riding this ship
Yes it’s gon’ be her, for this lovin, I got a grip

She caused me this great affection
And no, I dont need any correction
It’s her that I’ve been waiting and hoping for
It’s just her, my dear, my love and so much more
